Till date he has performed more than 2000 interventions in Bronchology including Therapeutic and Diagnostic Bronchoscopy & Thoracoscopy.
Post accomplishing MBBS from University of Calicut in 1996, he pursued MD in TB and Respiratory diseases from the premier JIPMER University, Pondicherry. Dr. Devassy has completed Part 1 and 2 of MRCP (UK) and is preparing to complete PACES, in order to enhance his clinical knowledge and skills which will in turn ensure his competency across a range of skills and ready to provide a high standard of care to patients.
Dr. Devassy is currently associated as Consultant Pulmonologist and PG Teacher with Amala Institute of Medical Science Thrissur, a foremost teaching hospital known for its excellence in holistic healthcare, quality education and research. He worked in the profile of Scientific Programme Chairman of Amala Pulmocon 2013 and Scientific Programme Chairman of Sleep Medicine CME 2014.
Dr. Devassy has been associated with many prestigious hospitals in India and abroad. He worked with Sabah Hospital, Ministry of Public Health in Kuwait as Registrar in Pulmonology. At Sabah Hospital, he was responsible for work related to pleural and lung diseases, outpatient and inpatient care of respiratory diseases. He was involved in teaching MBBS students of Kuwait Medical University.
He was previously attached with West Fort Group of Hospitals for 2 years as an Interventional Pulmonologist and worked with both the centres of the hospital group. He managed Allergy, Asthma and Lung Cancer Clinic where he was the Chief in-charge for critical care unit and ventilator management team of the hospital. It is at this hospital, he performed more than 350 diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy procedures. During the tenure he completed about 30 pleural biopsies, 10 pleurodesis, 25 tube thoracostomies, 100 thoracocenteses, 30 CT / fluoroscopy guided lung biopsies and 550 allergy skin tests. He was the teaching faculty for the various graduation and post-graduation medical courses offered by this institution. Dr. Devassy presented various pulmonology papers in various conferences of Trichur Anaesthasia Society, Trichur Chest Society and West Fort Clinical Club.
Dr. Devassy was associated with KPM Hospital- Malappuram as Consultant Pulmonology for approximately one year. He performed 50 diagnostic bronchoscopy procedures, 20 lung biopsies and other pleural/lung procedures, and managed various pulmonology clinics.
He also served as Resident- TB & Chest Diseases at JIPMER, Pondicherry, where he was well trained and acquired skills in managing both invasive and non-invasive pulmonology procedures. Dr. Devassy has also worked with Trichur Heart Hospital as an Assistant Medical Officer and Government Medical College as Pre Registration House Officer.
Dr. Devassy regularly visits various Cardiological conferences and workshops at national and international level. In the past he has attended the below mentioned events -
